The expression "Città dell’Acqua" (lit. "city of the water") used to define the archaeological area of the Vicus Caprarius, is due to the presence of the most characteristical element of the area: the water flowing from Fontana di Trevi, next to the structures excavated. This is an insula, turned into a domus through the IV century.

A place of entertainment and one of the City’s undisputed landmarks, the Circus Maximus comes back to life thanks to an innovative valorisation project using augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR). One of the most relevant monuments in Roman history, the Circus Maximus can for the first time be seen through all its historic phases thanks to a ground-breaking project using interactive display technologies that have never before been used in such an extended outdoor area.
The headsets available give a virtual rendering of the Circus Maximus by overlapping images of the past to the present-day reality to reconstruct its initial magnificence: in particular, the Arch of Titus will appear in its original majestic height.
The CIRCO MAXIMO EXPERIENCE, through continuous flashbacks to the past thanks to reconstructions in augmented and virtual reality, will enable you to see the life of the age-old valley unfold before your eyes, stroll through the Roman shops and watch a chariot race among shouts of encouragement and overturned chariots.
The 40-minute walking itinerary is available in eight languages (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese).
The eight stops are the following: the valley floor of the Circus in the archaic period, the Circus from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD, the Circus in the imperial period, the seating tiers (cavea), the Arch of Titus, the shops (tabernae), the Circus in the Middle Ages and in modern times and lastly, “A Day at the Circus”. The tour is available with immersive glasses (see-through technology) and stereo audio earphones included in the admission ticket to the “Circo Maximo Experience”.
The visit is also available for deaf people thanks to simplified subtitles in Italian or English.
It will not be possible to use the Experience on the first Sundays of the month and on the days with free admission. In case of rain it will not be possible to use the multimedia experience.

In the same area dominated today by the imposing Palazzo Colonna, several small palaces originally stood, erected at the behest of the noble and ancient Roman family, descendants of the Counts of Tuscolo. Most of the ancient vestiges, whose earliest historical memory dates back to the 13th century, were incorporated into a single and ambitious architectural complex, started in the mid-17th century and completed during the 18th century, when the two new facades along Piazza dei SS. Apostoli and Via della Pilotta were added.
The family's prestigious art collection, counted among the most important Roman collections formed after the Renaissance, is still housed in the palace's most famous wing, the celebrated Galleria Colonna, an extraordinary example of Baroque architecture, built and decorated in the mid- 17th century by Cardinal Girolamo I Colonna and inaugurated in 1703.
The Princess Isabelle’s Apartment, named after the grandmother of the current Princes, is decorated with frescoes by Pinturicchio, Cavalier Tempesta and Gaspard Dughet. It houses an equally remarkable picture gallery that includes masterpieces, including Sofonisba Anguissola's youthful self-portrait dated 1558, as well as paintings by renowned Flemish painters such as Maaerten de Vos and Jan Brueghel the Elder, and the world's most prestigious collection of Vanvitelli's Views of Rome, Venice, Naples.

Dal 22 maggio, ritornano gli emozionanti Viaggi nell’antica Roma!
Foro di Cesare: Foro di Traiano in prossimità della Colonna Traiana
I biglietti possono essere prenotati su rompass.vivaticket.it

Largo Sant’Angelo, 1 – 00019 Tivoli (Rm)
Woods, trails, ancient ruins, natural caves, a river swallowed by the rocks and a spectacular waterfall: all of this just a stone’s throw from Rome, in a park commissioned by Pope Gregory XVI in the early 19th century.
In the city of Tivoli, only half an hour from Rome, Parco Villa Gregoriana preserves a rich heritage, resonating with the sublime imagery that was so popular in the Romantic period. Nature, history, archaeology and craft merge in such an enthralling blend that in the 19th century this site became a must-see destination of the Grand Tour and the most popular subject in the paintings portraying Tivoli. In 1832, on the initiative of Pope Gregory XVI, an impressive work of hydraulic engineering was undertaken to contain the unceasing floods of river Aniene. The stream was deviated in a double tunnel dug into Mount Catillo: the water, channeled in this bottleneck, increased its level and fell in the artificial 120 meters waterfall known as Cascata Grande, which is today the second highest waterfall in Italy, behind Marmore Falls. In addition to that, the Pope created the Park that bears his name and was, for over a century, a favoured destination for artists, writers and men of culture, who disclosed its beauty to the whole world. After World War II, Parco Villa Gregoriana became the property of the State and in 2002 it was loaned to FAI. At that time, the site was in an advanced state of abandonment and hydrogeological instability. FAI’s commitment, however, brought it back to life: in 2005, Parco Villa Gregoriana reopened to visitors, who today can immerse themselves in the most luxuriant greenery, walk through the old trails finally free from brambles, smell the scents previously buried under decades of neglect and abandonment, use all the senses to discover the 74 tree species found in the park, explore interesting relics of past eras. Among these, the highlights are the remains of the Villa of the Roman Consul Manlius Vopiscus, a sumptuous residence celebrated by Horace, and the Roman temples on the acropolis, which include the renowned Temple of Vesta.
Loaned to FAI by the Italian State in 2002.
